Is not eating pork more important to human life than we acknowledge (like in the Bible/Quran)?
I'm converting to Judaism from Christianity and I've been researching the kosher laws. From a soul food background, pork has been a staple of my life. I used to think not eating pork was just stupid. But after researching meat, eating pork can seem to cause a lot of health side effects. Like one in six people in the USA and Canada has trichinosis from eating trichina worms. The worms are found in pork. That's a troubling statistic for modern countries like the USA and Canada. That means, even in modern day in modern industry and modern countries, pork is still not safe to eat. And like pig manure can't even be used commercially because their feces are so toxic (and we're eating their body?). Do people seem to underestimate the health benefits of Halal and Kashrut?
