Young Adult Fiction?

What topics do you wish there were more books on? What would you like to read about in a book? Would you like more symbolism, more or less complicated plots, indirect or direct characterization, heavy diction, light imagery? What literary devices do you feel are essential to writing an excellent young adult book?
