What part of my computer should I backup on an external hard drive?

I have a 500GB external hard drive and I want to back up my whole computer. I don't really know how to do it, I downloaded the SyncBack Freeware and it tells me to select certain folders to backup. I'm thinking I should back up my User account but I don't know what else is important? Should I backup my Local Disk also or anything else?
